Mary J. Joseph

Mary is an associate attorney with over 20 years of civil litigation experience in the defense of medical malpractice, construction site liability, premises liability, motor vehicle liability, property damage and insurance coverage claims from inception through trial and appeal. At FKB, she represents the interests of a wide variety of healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, hospitals, and other medical facilities, in the defense of medical malpractice and negligence claims. Mary also has an extensive appellate background, successfully arguing numerous appeals before the Appellate Division, First and Second Departments. She was formerly a principal appellate court attorney with the Appellate Division, First Department, where she researched and analyzed complex legal issues in all areas of the law and drafted preliminary opinions for the Court.  Mary has also represented plaintiffs in negligence claims. Her background has given her a unique perspective from the viewpoints of the defense, the plaintiff, and the Court. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and exploring the diversity of art and culture in New York. Mary is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Queens County Women’s Bar Association, and the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean Bar Association of Queens.
